Friday morning CalicoJames and I headed up the Meysan Lakes trailhead to climb Lone Pine Peak. It's the smaller brother to the much higher peaks to the west and north like Corcoran, Le Conte, Mallory, Irvine, Discovery Pinnacle, Muir, Whitney and Russell all within view from the summit and only one of two I had yet to step on top of, Corcoran being the other. This peak is often mistakenly identified as Mount Whitney by the casual observer traveling down highway 395 some 9,200 feet below in the valley floor because of its location and that it it sits so much further east and blocks the view of the larger brothers to the west. At 12,944 it's still a fun peak to ascend in good to great spring snow conditions.
Thanks Jim & Jim for setting this up been wanting to knock this one out for years.
