I was able to convince another three victims, I mean partners to come along for a weekend of fun in Kings Canyon National Park.
This time the objective as Mt. Brewer, North Guard and South Guard. We started from Roads End at 5,035' and backpacked through very challenging terrain to the Sphinx Lakes at 10,565'.
Crossing the Kings River was a highlight if you are into that sort of thing. Icy water, stepping on logs that move, swift water up to waist level, good times.
The trek to camp was on steep trail to the Sphinx Creek turnoff then cross country over talus, wet slabs, more icy water crossings and uneven footing. Just getting to camp was a physically draining affair.
We set up for a summit bid the following day. Deb and I took advantage of the long days and would bag a bonus peak......to be continued
