Dunderberg Traverse on 5/20-5/21: pure awesomeness!
Snow conditions: Snow was crunchy in the morning down to 9,000 ft. By 11am, we would posthole a few inches on ridges at 11,500 ft as well as north and south facing slopes and couloirs. Foot deep postholing on ridges and south facing slopes lasted between 3pm and sunset before the snow hardened again. Snow at 12,300 ft in the early morning was hard and crunchy but not icy.
Difficulty: IV, class 3-4
Stats: ~9-10 miles 6,000 ft gain
