Mountain Trip’s December 1 Team is on the summit of Aconcagua, the highest peak in the western hemisphere! A huge congratulations on a job well done.  The weather has been beautiful, and they did great today.   Mark and Joe are on the summit with Brian and Nils turned around with Dave just short of the summit.  It’s a huge day climbing up to nearly 7000 meters and while they are all feeling the affects of the altitude up there, they are healthy and moving well still.  They’ll descend back to high camp to spend the night tonight and then get all the way to basecamp

Two days ago, Quentin Roberts (Canada) and Juho Knuuttila (Finland) climbed the Cara Este route on Cerro Piergiorgio, making the second ascent of the peak. They left Niponino at 5AM, reached the summit at 4PM, and got back to Niponino by 10:30PM, risking hefty speeding tickets from the local police… In the middle section they free-climbed the first aid pitch at M6R/X (35m) and also the second M6 (50m), which had been free-climbed in 2010 by Jonathan Griffith and Will Sim. Below the summit Juho and Quentin made a short rappel, narrowly missing a free ascent of the route and peak.
