After several years, the North Face of San Jacinto is IN SEASON!

On 4/8/23, 3 of us made a successful ascent of a route known as Kristen's Cleavage (for lack of a better name), a couloir on the northern side of Kristen Peak which juts out of the east side of the North Face. This route has had less than 5 known ascents in all of history, making it extremely exploratory and fun. Almost all of the 11,000 ft of elevation gain comes in a 6 mile stretch. This is the 4th route I have climbed on the North Face, with the easiest being Snow Creek and the hardest being Folly Ridge.

Difficulty: IV Class 4 alpine snow/mixed

Stats: 11 miles, 11,000 ft gain

Conditions: Snow starts at 5k, packed avalanche debris from 5-7k, packed from 7-8k, ankle deep postholing from 8k-10.8k

We counted a total of 7 people that ascended the neighboring Snow Creek route. Conditions were reportedly similar on that route but with some icy patches between 10-10.8k
