On 06.08.2018 around 17:00, a mountain accident occurred at the Dent Blanche. A mountaineer lost his life.
Three mountaineers, two Dutchmen and a German descended from the summit of Dent Blanche (4357m) towards the hut of the same name. Shortly after passing the Great Gendarme, at an altitude of about 4000 meters, one of them slipped for an undetermined reason and fell about 300 meters in the face. The alert was given by his two companions. Subsequently, they, unable to continue, were helicoptered and evacuated by the rescuers.
A doctor and two guides of the House of the Rescue were quickly rushed on the spot aboard a helicopter of Air-Glaciers. They could only note the death of the unfortunate.
The victim is a 60-year-old Dutch national.
