I’ve received a few questions about the deaths of the Korean and Sherpa climbers near Dhaulagiri. It’s tragic and the details are vague but it appears they were hit by a violent and sudden snowstorm.
Kami and I are over 200 miles away in the Khumbu enjoying pristine weather. This Saturday, October 13,2018, we reached 17,500-feet on Goyko Ri as part of our acclimatization process. We leave early tomorrow towards Island Peak hoping to summit on the 20th. I have a full blog post ready with more pictures but the internet is too slow to upload here in Goyko.
My condolences to the family and friends of the fallen. An unexpected tragedy.
