On Saturday, September 29th Sheriff's Dispatch was alerted of a missing backpacker. The 63-year-old female was on the last day of a six-day backpacking trip and was last seen by her companions around 8:15am the day before in Dusy Basin, just over Bishop Pass. On Sunday morning, Inyo County Search & Rescue began searching the Bishop Pass area, interviewing hikers, and sweeping side trails. Luckily, after two extra nights out, the subject made it out of the mountains Sunday uninjured (although probably very tired and hungry). Much thanks to CHP – Central Division Air Operations for excellent air support and for Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks for serving as incident commanders and for their work on the west side of Bishop Pass.

Descending the well trodden summit ridge of Mont Blanc’s Gouter route.
A solid cardio mission from the Chamonix Valley, clocking around 4000m vertical over 17 hours return from Les Houches. And quite fun varied scrambling & mountaineering.
Feet were just warm enough (i.e. chilly) in Bobo Products Salewa Mountain trainers above the snowline but much more fun for the long descent. All the gear just fit into a 9L running vest including a 20m 8mm rope and dyneema harness for the glacier.
The valley floor was reached just as a large storm began, brewing up fresh autumn ice across the Alps.
