Its True We Were On The Summit
2nd Oct 2014

Sorry about the delay folks but its been a rather busy morning here at base camp as we start to pack up and dismantle what has been our home for the past 30 odd days.
A special glow has come over our team as energy levels build back to normal and the realisation of what has been achieved sets in.
Our summit day on the mountain certainly was by no means easy and everyone had to dig deep through oddly first relatively warm conditions then as we got higher and above 7800m a strong cold wind blew and a cloud capped our mountain top. As the sun rose from the Nepal side of the mountain the cloud dissipated, the wind eased and the temperature once again rose, likely to a balmy -20C!There is debate about whether we were the highest people in the world that day. I'd say there is a pretty good chance.

I hope you enjoy the summit pictures and don't be sad that some folk still have their oxygen mask on, the air is mighty thin up there.

All the best from Steve and the team here on our last day at base camp. Tomorrow we trek to the road end and travel by jeep to the Tibet/Nepal border.
Till then, bye bye
