Inyo Search and Rescue was called out to the North Fork of Big Pine Creek yesterday (9/3/18) around 4:00pm for a subject with a leg injury. It was reported that the party was approximately 0.1 miles up the trail from the overnight parking lot. A group of six Inyo SAR members departed to the trailhead; one hasty team member ran approximately 0.3 miles up the trail to the subject and found him sitting in the trail with a very swollen left ankle.
The party had been hiking out around 3pm when the subject slipped and fell, injuring his ankle. When the rest of the SAR team members arrived shortly after, the subject was moved into a litter and carried to the Big Pine Pack Station (approximately 200 yards), where Sierra 35 took over care of the patient.
