Sequel to last Sunday’s foiled attempt to climb San Gorgonio via north chutes:Ellen, Marilyn, and I succeeded on round 2! We went up via Dry Lake (not so dry) and entered the chute farthest to the left. It was choppy, dirty and ugly, so we traversed the ridge between it and the next chute to the right. From there it’s was nearly perfect in every way. As always, the last 50’ or so pitched steeply enough to get my adrenaline up, but it wasn’t icy at all so that was nice.You will see by my pics that the weather was beautiful. I was in short sleeves until we topped out on the ridge where there was a stiff breeze. We removed crampons to walk the ridge to San Gorgonio Peak and had lunch in the company of a group of very hungry ground squirrels. Then we retraced our steps for the way back down. It was a long day...13 hours from start to finish. Thank you mountain sisters for one of the best days ever!
